Wind Ensemble in their Carnegie Hall Debut!
Wind Ensemble: NY International Music Festival | Carnegie Hall | April 11, 2017

CONGRATULATIONS TO WIND ENSEMBLE and Director, Michael James for their inspiring performance at Stern Auditorium in Carnegie Hall on April 11th. They were presented with a Gold Award (the highest possible) at the 2017 New York International Music Festival. The level of musicianship they have shown and their hard work and dedication have brought them to this pinnacle. Memories for a lifetime and a place in Ballard Performing Arts history are theirs.
And from Mr. James:
"It is hard to put into words the enthusiasm of the audience who heard the Wind Ensemble's performance and the spirits of the students after our final cutoff.  We received a very long ovation and we are all extremely proud of the performance that we brought to the stage at Carnegie Hall and the manner in which we represented Ballard High School and the Ballard Performing Arts program."

The Importance of Being Ernest
Opening Night is May 11th!
Come enjoy Oscar Wilde's best comedy which pokes fun at Victorian-era social norms. Misunderstandings and mistaken identity wreak havoc on our young characters who are in pursuit of true love. Cleverly written with more than a bit of irreverence.

"In matters of grave importance, style, not sincerity, is the vital thing." Gwendolen

Coffee Sales

Drink Coffee and Raise Money for Ballard Performing Arts

It’s coffee time! We are once again partnering with Caffé Appassionato, who will generously donate $5 from every$12 (12oz) bag sold to support performing arts students and programs. There are four delicious blends to choose from: Organic Espresso, Organic Decaf, Arietta (lightest roast) and Tempest (darkest roast).

Order forms are coming home this week with your student and are also available on the Performing Arts website. Each student is asked to sell, collect payment, and turn in completed forms to the black locked mailbox in the music room.

This money goes to your student’s personal account and can be used to help pay for trip fees, t-shirts, and other events.

Completed orders are due by Wednesday, May 3, and coffee orders will be distributed during each of the spring concerts (choir May 25, orchestra June 1, and band June 8).

Winter Music Concerts
Share the Videos and Photos with Friends and Family
All three concerts are now available for viewing on BPA YouTube and Vimeo.  Thank You to James Taylor with assistance from student Max Beaulieu (Band and Choir) and John Shelepet (Orchestra) for the fantastic Winter Concert Videos.  Photos are available on BPA Social Media:

Recordings Available
Winter Concert music files are online. Inside each Band, Choir or Orchestra folder are folders with each group's songs and each Mozart's Requiem in both WAV and MP3 formats. Use WAV files to burn CDs, MP3s to download to iPods and similar devices. MP3s will show up in alphabetical order, but they have track numbers embedded in them, and should sort themselves into performance order once they're in iTunes or some similar program.

Please respect the composers' copyright and do not share with anyone outside of your ensemble except for the Requiem. Mozart's copyright has expired.

Fall Concert Recordings Available
Enjoy the music at home
to open a folder called "Ballard Fall 2016."  Inside are separate folders for band, choir and orchestra, and inside each of those are folders for .WAV files and MP3 files.   Download .WAV files if you want to burn your own CDs. If you have trouble downloading the .WAV files please contact Diane Taylor for assistance. Download MP3 files if you are using a device like an iPad or an iPhone.  The MP3 files will appear in alphabetical order, but the track numbers are embedded, so when they are downloaded into iTunes as an album, they should arrange themselves in the proper order.

MP3 files are for listening.  WAV files must be downloaded to your computer and are for burning CDs

Please respect the copyright on this music, do not share it with students who are not in our music program or upload it anywhere else on the web.  The copyright act allows "One archive or study recording" per musician.
